Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle

Photos from our Taipei Semicon Show

September 21, 2006

Our participation in Taipei's Semicon SHow 2006 was a complete success based on the feedback we got during the show itself. Here are some of our photos.

My partner Jim O Bryan, Myself, Y Seng, Bruce(Our President) and Remy

My machine completely cooperated during the show, it became alive minutes before the show started and died on me minutes before it closed. Marunong talagang makisama ang walanghiya!!!

Semicon Taiwan 2006 (Sept 11-13),World Trade Centre,Taipei

September 12, 2006

Finally  after one weeks hard work, I was able to make the machine start running just a day before the Semicon show started.

(Extreme right) Our Gold Bumper Wire Bonder

Semicon Taiwan is the preferred event for the buyers in tthe Asian region to see and compare semiconductor equipment and related products and services from all over the world. Yesterday, we have met up with Samsung guys and some of the guys I've met came from Amkor Anam ,my previous employer in Manila.

The guy however who now works for Samsung in Korea used to work under my boss in Amkor when he was based in Seoul. So we had initial connection due to our common experience in Amkor.

Just to give you a profile of those who participated, they came mostly from  Electrical contractors, engineers, equipment manufacturers, inspectors/supervisors, wholesalers, supply authorities, Government - state/federal, Industrial installation, Manufacturers, OEM's/CEM's, Plant engineers/personnel, Radio communications, Research & development, Service/support engineers and Switchboard builders.

The show was held at the World Trade Centre just infront of  Taiwan 101, the tallest structure in the World. Yesterday and Today we had cocktails and dinner with some semicon guys from other companies and tomorrow is the last day of the trade show.

Finally on Sunday Ill be back home in Singapore.

Taipei Rallies

September 10, 2006

I just arrived in Taipei on the 9th and guess what greeted us(my American colleague is with me) but RALLIES all over.

The streets were teeming with red colors(their  protest color) and fanatic shouting for the ouster of their President. It was like I was in Manila again. This time I cant understand a word they were saying.

In SIngapore, I heard even the seemingly peaceful rally of animal  activists was banned. Singapore is still not ready for these kinds of protesters.

I wonder what kind of political groups they accredited to protest inside the venue of the IMF World Bank meet on Monday. Siguro rally ng mga bakla.

Taichung

September 1, 2006

Im on the plane again on Sunday. This time,I will be in Taichung, a 3 hour  drive from Taipei by Sunday morning. I will be staying in Ting Lung hotel very near Tiger City, a large shopping complex in Central Taichung.

Tiger City  Shopping Mall

Taichung is one of the bigger cities in Taiwan after Taipei and Kaoshiung(southern tip). It is midway between Taipei and Kaoshiung. My clients office is a 30 minute drive from my hotel.

I love  Taiwan dishes and its very hard to go on diet when I am on trips like this.

I’m in Bangkok Again

August 29, 2006

I think if SIngapore is my second home, Thailand specifically Bangkok is my third home. I am here almost every month. I just came back early August from Thailand and now I am here again.

I am already used to this place that most oftentimes I am mistaken for a local. I am now staying in Century Park hotel, a business hotel which is very much close to my wife's favorite shopping place, the Platinum Mall in Pratunam. Internet charge in the hotel is astronomical and I was so surprised last night when I was able to log on to my laptop getting internet wireless signals from the nearby building.

Staying in the Pratunam area is quite convenient since eating and shopping places are within walking distance from the hotel.

Living(Leaving) on a Jetplane

August 28, 2006

Im living(leaving) on a Jetplane ,I dont know when I'll be back again..as the song goes.

I arrived SIngapore Sunday(August 27) 1 am after a 2 hours delay in Narita. Reached home at 2pm ,napped till 8:30 am and had a very hearty breakfast of Nasi Lemak and soya bean milk with my wife. I only had 4 hours to pack my things  and I was off to the airport again at 1:30 pm to catch my flight to Bangkok.

This month, I was practically living in a suitcase. I will be in Bangkok for a week and on Sunday Sept 3 ,I will be off again to Taipei for the electronics show. This trip will be for two weeks.

Some think this job is fun. But believe me, once you had been doing this kind of travelling for years, it gets to be very tiring. I havent even recovered from my jetlag and I am again in a different time zone.

In Narita, I fell asleep in the waiting lounge and when  I woke up a lady sitted infront of me gave me a silly smile. Maybe I was snoring so loudly…..Oh well….

My Chevy Uplander

August 24, 2006

This is Ramada Inn,San Marcos my temporary residence in San Diego(just beside the Hiway and infront of  a Shopping Centre)

My rentacar vehicle now is a Chevy 2007 White Uplander. First day palang na flat tire na ako. Its a little bit heavy for me. I wanted an intermediate car(smaller car) but it was the only vehicle available at National Rentacar service in LA .

The other day I wanted the Rentacar office to exchange it with a smaller car since I dont need a big car. The gas consumption is bigger (chargeable to my expense account) and also I only have 1 spare tire. The tire that I am using now is even smaller than the 3 tires I have so medyo unbalanced ng driving ko.

Its good the driving distance from Ramada Inn to Palomar is just a short distance so I am not worried about the tires bursting or giving up on me again.

Chevy Uplander 2007

This vehicle is good for big families going on long distance driving but for me who is on a short visit here ,I would prefer a smaller car.

If I am in Manila I would prefer to buy bigger vehicles like this.Unfortunately I cannot afford to buy this vehicle in Singapore where cars cost as much and even more expensive than my house.
