Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle

September 28, 2009

Part of our major plan next year is this.

It needs a lot of planning now that my kids are already teenagers.

Even my eldest son is showing disinterest in moving.

This is not going to be a permanent thing. My retirement plan is to tour the Philippines from Aparri to Jolo

Perth Shopping & DIning

September 19, 2009

We spent four days in Perth just going around the city, window shopping, eating and appreciating the cold spring weather.

One thing I can say about Perth is that the food there is great but quite expensive (average of A$4.5-6) per meal which would cost about S$2-4 in Singapore.

The variety of shopping is better in Perth but is also quite expensive.

What we enjoyed are the Fish and Chips in Fremantle(try Sweet Lips near the Fremantle Harbour), the Paninis near our hotel and the cakes at Miss Maud.My wife loves shoes at Uggs and Rubi.

Are U Migrating to Canada?

July 10, 2009

We received our approval documents for our Right for Permanent Residence in Canada exactly two years after we filed our documents with the Canadian Embassy.

When we asked for the opinion of our relatives and friends who are now in Canada, here were their emails to us

From My Sister in Law:

plan wisely recession dito no good opportunity awaits you at this time. Sayang ang trabaho ninyo. The boys can stay and study here but I think ate beth and Tony better stick to what you are doing or you will not be able to find a good job here.Mahirap ang buhay dito. I am not discouraging you but as I have said it is a big decisions sa future ninyo you are not young anymore to start all over again. Retirement na dito 55 sa kung magreretire ka na and You got the money then ok you can just be here without thinking na magtratrabaho pa o magsearch pa ng job para may ikabuhay ka, The kids they can stay here and study here and you can just visit them every 6 months while working in singapore. Magpabalik balik nalang kayo.  Call me or email me sa inyong decisions.

From Our previous neighbor who migrated a year ago

Hi Betty, Congratulations.!.. it’s only 2 years lang yun processing ng papers niyo. Ang bilis ah! Anyways, I call you na lang mamaya gabi or tomorrow morning kasi may work ako tonight. Recession pala dito ngayon, it’s hard to find a job kaya dami wala work ngayon and the economic is not good as that unlike in Singapore. Marami nga dito still they’re going back to Singapore and Middle East. They regreting to come over here. I don’t want to spoil your momentum pero that is the reality here. Siguro itry muna ni Tony to come & visit or kayo mag-asawa muna, or maybe huwag muna magresign si tony magleave lagn siya for 6 months upon arrival. huwag niyo muna ipagpibili yun bahay niyo diyan and don’t give up your work. Kelangan maka-stay kayo dito for 6 months to make sure na maramdaman niyo buhay dito sa canada. Life here is really tough and difficult. Payo kaibigan lang ito betty thru my experience now. Last time, we were invited bambi’s family to visit us here sa condo, we talked about the life here in canada. Hope you won’t mind to tell you all this things para rin sainyo ito. Kami nga we plan to go back to singapore once we get our citizenship talga mahirap. siguro naman bambi can help you out here to find work. marami nga dito sa church namin IT. i suggest to Tony na magapply muna online then gamitin niya yun addres nila bambi. pero kung may makukuha siya work before you come over here that’s be a great help for you esp kung sa field ni tony.

From my wifes best friend who migrated ten years ago

it’s hard to say. Hindi ko puwedeng sabihin na mahirap or madali dahil iba iba ang experience. Merong iba, suwerte kaagad they are able to get the job they want. Iba naman hindi. Ako nga, temporary lang sa agency for 2 years.

It depends talaga on your reasons . Kami at that point, with Angelo gone, hindi ko na naisip ang trabaho. Talagang parang bahala na lang - leap of faith.

Pero kung hindi nangyari ang kay Angelo, I think mag-iisip isip pa akong mabuti. Kasi nga, hindi ko talaga gusto at that time. I opened myself to the idea only after Angelo was gone.

SO NOW WE REALLY HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT, WHO SAYS YOU ARE LUCKY TO MIGRATE….NOWADAYS ITS NOT

Hotels In Penang

May 1, 2009

SInce I have an extended stay in Malaysia particularly in Penang, I am trying out all three hotels in Bayan Lepas which is near the airport and near the Factory ZOne.

My first trip here with Missis we stayed at Vistana Hotel which is in the midrange category.

This week I stayed at B Suite, a no frills hotel/apartelle mostly for business travellers in Penang. Its a much cheaper hotel(S$45/day) and has a commanding view of the area. If you are not after luxury this hotel suits your budget and your basic needs.

PENANG ISLAND

April 29, 2009

The next few months will be busy months for me in Penang since I have a client in this town in Malaysia.

Prior to visisting this place my idea of Penang was a place for dining because they said that food here is the best.

But a visit with my wife to Penang for the first time proved to me that you still have to be selective about the places you will dine in since you really have to get accustomed to hot chili spices and other tastes before you can taste some of Penangs delectable dishes.

So far what I have seen in Penang are old shophouses that dates back to the early 1900s and a place that looks like you are brought back to the 1950s since everything seems to run so slowly even the people working in my clients factory all move slowly.

The slow pace of life here is therefore one thing that tourists are probably looking for specially for people like me who is quite used to the fast pace of life in Singapore.

Boom Times for Palomar

February 10, 2009

It has been a crazy year for my company, almost at the end of 2008 a lot of clients suddenly ordered equipments from us.

When almost all semiconductor and electronic companies in Asia and US are closing or retrenching, somehow my company is doing very well during this recession.

I am still in Carlsbad until Feb 23 since I am doing training for our USA clients and also setting up an equipment for our new client in Singapore 3M.

The Palomar boys had a get together at Cris’s place about a week ago when missus was still here in San Diego and we talked about so many things, Hollywood, Palomar, Pinoy food etc.

Its been a while since I have stayed this long in San Diego. I will be here for over a month. Its cold and raining in Carlsbad. Hopefully the weather will be better in the days ahead.

I miss the weather of Singapore.
